Features
One of JangoMail's greatest strengths is its flexibility of use and ability to adapt to almost any type of database environment. Because different people like to work with e-mail in different ways, JangoMail has been designed so that you can accomplish the most common tasks in many different ways. This makes JangoMail one of the most user-friendly web-based applications on the Internet. Below are some examples.
Composing your e-mail
There are several ways you can compose the body of your e-mail message:
- Compose your e-mail in an external editor, like FrontPage, DreamWeaver, Word, or even Notepad, and then copy and paste the HTML code into the JangoMail Message field.
- Compose your e-mail in JangoMail's built-in HTML editor.
- Compose your e-mail in your existing e-mail program, like Outlook, Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail, Eudora, or Pegasus, and then send the message to your assigned jangomail.com e-mail address to trigger a mass e-mailing to your list.
Sending a mass e-mail
There are two ways you can trigger a mass e-mailing through JangoMail:
- Login at www.jangomail.com and go the Send E-mail section, where you fill out the fields and then click the Send E-mail button.
- Trigger a mass e-mailing from your own e-mail program. Compose the e-mail in your favorite e-mail client and then send it to your jangomail.com e-mail address with special instructions in the Subject line.
- Trigger a mass e-mailing from an external software application using the JangoMail Application Programming Interface (API), a web service which can be called over the Internet.
Options for the From E-mail address
There are three options for the From E-mail Address that appears on your outbound mass
e-mails:
- By default, an account is setup with username@jangomail.com as the From E-mail Address.
- The From E-mail Address can also be set as an editable field, so that you may put whatever e-mail address you like in there (a non jangomail.com address)
- And finally, the From E-mail Address can be set to an address that represents your existing domain name. This is called a branded sub-domain. For example, if your domain name is joebaker.com, a sub-domain called news.joebaker.com could be setup, in which case the From E-mail Address would be your-username@news.joebaker.com.
Connecting to your existing e-mail lists
There are four options for working with your e-mail lists:
- If you have your data stored in a standard database like Excel, Access, GoldMine, ACT!, or SQL Server for example, JangoMail can
"talk" to your database in real-time to pull out your e-mail data. No need to export/import.
- If your web site stores new member data in a back-end database, JangoMail can
"talk" to your back-end web site database to pull out your e-mail data. No need to export/import.
- If you don't manage your contacts in a particular database, you can always store your data within JangoMail Groups. You can setup as many Groups within your account as you like, define fields in each Group, and then import your members into Groups.
- If you are sending un-personalized e-mails, then you may also copy/paste a list of e-mail addresses into the
Enter Additional Addresses field at the time you compose and send your mass e-mail. JangoMail will auto-detect the separator and send an individual e-mail to each address pasted in this box.
Importing e-mail addresses into a JangoMail Group
There are two ways and many accepted formats for importing a data file into a JangoMail
Group:
- Copy/paste your data into a field.
- Upload a file containing your data.
- Send the data file to JangoMail via a remote software application using the JangoMail Application Programming Interface (API).
Additionally, your file can be a .csv, .dat, or .txt file.
When setting up the import, you can choose the order of the columns as they exist in your data, so that you
do not have to export your data in any special order or format. You can also choose which columns to import, and you may set custom row and column delimiters as well.
The JangoMail Group Importer is the most sophisticated, flexible, and easy-to-use data importer available for a web-based mass e-mailing system.
